Hello! Today in makerspace we started celebrating fall. The students were creating fall creations on the Lego wall. They loved it and proved to be very creative. Don't forget there are more pictures under the "Photo" section of this website also!
*We are focusing on digital citizenship this week. We are using Common Sense Media to help teach the kids about how to be safe online. Here is the website we use: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/educators/digital-citizenship Thank you for checking out this page. Please remember to follow me on Twitter - mrsboyer12475. We have our magnetic wall up and running thanks to our wonderful workers at FISD! Mr. Bruce cut and bent and added magnets to all these PVC pipes so our kiddos could create all kinds of ball runs. The students from Mrs. Martin's class and Mrs. Quigley's classes were the first to test it out today. The excitement was obvious from the smiles, laughter and jumping up and down with pure joy! Thanks to FISD and Mrs. Moffitt for this addition. And thanks to Mr. Whitlock for finding bouncy balls that would work today so we could start "playing"!
Today in the computer lab, part of our lesson was how to take pictures with digital cameras and how to use Google Hangout to "chat" with people. We were lucky enough in all of the classes to get to chat with Mrs. Moffitt and Mr. Whitlock. We asked lots of good questions, like "what do you do all day?" and "how did you get your job?" The kids LOVED it! Thanks to our great principal and assistant principal for taking the time to help our kids have these great experiences!
(we also had computer time as well...a favorite for all the students) We are in our second week of classes coming to Makerspace. The students are doing great! The look on their faces is priceless! The most popular "spaces" have been Art Cart, the black table with the marble runs and the giant coloring pages. Everyone has been enjoying the lego wall as well and the Magnaformers. Have a great Thursday!
Just a quick reminder to follow the library on Instagram at wwlibrary2016 and you can follow me on Twitter at mrsboyer12475. Thanks!
Some of our Kindergarten classes are celebrating Dot Day by making "dot buddies" with classrooms from New Hampshire. It was so fun! First we decorated our own dots in the classrooms, cut them in half and mailed them to New Hampshire. Then on Monday we received a package from Chesterfield, New Hampshire with half dots for us! The students picked out half dots to match with their own, glued them down and sent a video and pictures to our buddies in New Hampshire. The kids LOVED it! And now they know where New Hampshire is!
We had our first classes in Maker Space today! The kids LOVED building with Legos, blocks and Lincoln Logs. They also enjoyed the "art cart" and coloring table. They were so good at remembering all the expectations and how to clean up. It was a very successful day!
I worked with some Kindergarten classes today to create dots for our "dot buddies". We are cutting our dots in half and sending the dots to New Hampshire to two more K classes. They are sending us their dots as well! When we get our package from NH we will match them with our dots and make a picture for all to see! So fun! We love connecting for Dot Day!
Today we learned about the app Quiver (formally ColorAlive). The students colored a picture and then we opened the app on the iPads and it brought the picture to life! What fun! You can download the app for Apple and Android.
