Mrs. Zavala had her first "customers" checking out books today. Mrs. Waltenbaugh's 2nd grade class enjoyed getting to see all the new shelves and seating we had.
Then we had our first students come for our Maker Space. We learned about Responsible Use and how to be an inventor. Then we started learning our routines for the space. We finished the first week of school!!! It was such a great week. The students made our school feel alive again and we have amazing teachers who make our school run so smoothly. I love my school! I got to speak at the first PTO meeting of the year! (I was so nervous!) If you weren't there I just explained what we are doing in the new media center and gave everyone a list of items we could use for our Maker Space. Here is the list...
These are just a few of the ideas from a website I found. Have a great weekend! Please follow our media center on Instagram - wwlibrary2016 & you can follow me on Twitter @mrsboyer12475.
Everyone is loving the new library. I've been taking the technology classes on a tour and they are super excited to see the Lego wall and the magnetic wall too. Some teachers are using the flexible seating area for story time as well! It's wonderful to see all the smiling faces! Be sure to follow us on Instagram also...wwlibrary2016. I'm posting pictures there also.
We are open for business! We had our first customers this afternoon. Our Kinder teachers are getting ready for their new students by reading some great books, Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten and A Place Called Kindergarten. We are so excited for everyone to see our new media center. Don't forget Meet the Teacher is today, August 18 from 4-5. Also, please follow us on Instagram at wwlibrary2016.
I had some great helpers to start unpacking the library today. I don't know how many boxes there are, but it's A LOT! We almost finished the Fiction section (after a quick lunch with Mrs. Moffitt & Nurse Migl) and will tackle the Non-Fiction books on Monday. The library isn't the only room that is busy right now...there have been many teachers at Westwood getting ready for school. Don't forget Meet the Teacher is next Thursday, August 18th from 4-5 p.m. The first day of school is August 22! Can't wait to see all our kids!
Well, our new furniture arrived! It was so exciting to see the trucks pull up out front. They had it unloaded and put together in about 2 hours. Then it took us a couple of hours of playing with it to decide where we wanted it. Here are the pics of what we decided for now...next up...putting all the books back on the shelves.
I am currently working on getting this blog up and running. Please check back for more information.
